Can’t anyplace dedicated to God be His house? Is there really anything special or sacred about a “church” building? What did Jesus mean He will build His church? I doubt seriously He was talking about a building. A church is more than just a building. It’s a body of likeminded believers. So why do we always think in the natural? You can have church anywhere two or more are gathered in the name of the Messiah for praise, worship, prayer, bible study, and fellowship. Of course many church “fellowships” is all about networking and socializing that we forget the real purpose of it. To edify and uplift each other using our spiritual gifts. To love God and love each other and be examples to the world that is disconnected from the One True God. You can have church anywhere. You can’t separate the secular from the sacred. This is only possible if God is not in it because God is everywhere whether we acknowledge it or nor. We can only be aware of this if our eyes have been opened to the Kingdom of God all around us. 1 John 1:7 says when we walk in the light, the blood of Jesus cleanses us, and we have fellowship. Living in a dark world that doesn’t know God can be very depressing but surrounding yourself with people who love God can lift you through all that like no psychiatric medicine can. I read a devotional one time that said if you see only the negative, then you are not pure in heart. God doesn’t see the negative because He sees it through the blood of Jesus and draws all those into a deeper relationship through Christ that want to know Him for who He is. Your true friends & family are those that love & accept you for who you are and seek after the God who is rather than the god they want. The god we want is impotent, powerless, and also idolatrous, and idolaters will not inherit the Kingdom of God. Like God told Cain, when you do what is right sin will not enslave you. The only right thing to do is recognize our spiritual depravity without God and hunger & thirst after His righteousness.
