James, the half brother of Jesus Himself, declared that the tongue is the most powerful organ in the body. If any man offend not with the tongue he is perfect and able to control his own body. We use the same tongue to lift people up as we do to tear them down. The book of Proverbs says that the mouth of a righteous man is a well of life and the lips of the fool feed many. It also says that he that refrains from speaking is wise. In other words only speak when you have something to say to uplift someone. If more people did that (that includes all of us) it would be a quiet, and probably more peaceful world. Wow, short spiritual blog post today. But it’s on the mouth so I’ve said enough.
